I know that Windows 8 doesn't come with the ability to read DVD movies, by default, but I was told it was as easy as installing a multimedia player like VLC, Media Player Classic Home Cinema or PotPlayer. Well, I tried all of them and everytime I insert a DVD movies, the multimedia software hangup when trying to read the DVD. What's up with my setup?
I'll need to take a closer look at it when I come back from work... I have Windows 8 x64 but I installed MPC-HC 32 bits with the 32 bits version of Shark007 codecs and it still hangup when trying to load movie.
Still no luck with K-Lite Mega codec pack, I'm starting to wonder what I'm doing wrong. I have an Nvidia GT330M and I installed the last driver downloaded directly from Nvidia website. edit: it's definitely not only related to codecs, I installed the Media Center pack and I still have the same problem. I didn't have any trouble playing DVD on that computer when I had Windows 7 installed, it's strange
What if you play a movie off the hard disc? I mean that the DVD drive is about to check out. If it plays properly then, you can blame it on the drive
