Not sure if this was discussed anywhere, but I really like how some new specialty Windows 8 or 8.1 demo show the start menu with a nice bright white background that looks good.

The most I can get out of the current start menu is a medium-light gray, but it doesn't look that good. Funny thing is that Windows Phone 8 allows a pure white background behind the tiles, why doesn't Windows 8 allow it?

Fox News Room has a video demo of their new state of the art news room with large screen Win 8 computers. But, I really love that bright white background they have.

You can kind of see it in the background here.

Does anyone know if there are some registry tweaks that can override or manually set the background colors of the start screen of Windows 8 / 8.1?

    Thanks.
