    Hi everyone!

    I am asking for your help, because I am unsure about what to do.

    I have a laptop, with 2 separate hdd (1 in the media bay).

    Hdd1 = Windows 7
    Hdd2 = Windows 8 Pro

    Currently, I am using my computer in dual-boot and my copy of Windows 8 is activated via KMS. But I have my legit key for Pro and my legit key for Media Center.

    And I would like to install media center.

    So, I though about the following :
    - Activate Windows 8 Pro with my real key
    - Backup activation file
    - Upgrade to Media Center and activate
    - Backup activation file

    Then, when I will decide to run Windows 8 as my only os, do the following (while off-line)
    - Install Windows 8 Pro with legit key
    - Restore activation file (should then be activated)
    - Install Media Center with legit key
    - Restore activation file of Media Center (should then be activated)

    Is this the way to go?
    Is reinstalling Windows 8 on a different drive (HDD1 rather than HDD2) can prevent activation restore?

    Also, my media bay can be swapped with the following :
    - Hdd
    - Usb 3.0 module (my computer only has Usb 2.0, but a module that connect directly to the mb can be put in the media bay)
    - Dvd writter

    Does swapping these devices can disable Windows 8? In Windows 7, I was activated via SLIC so it wasn't a real bummer.

    Thanks!

    After you backed up the activation of your Pro with installed WMC with ATM, it should be easier to create an Pro-WMC-ISO, make a fresh install with this and restore activation afterwards. For further info check out second link in my sig.
