When Windows 8 Milestone 3 phase has finished, would Microsoft need to compile lots of build in the Beta phase or just one?

Master, among so many builds, would you kindly leak at least one of them?

To me far more interesting is the kernel build.

Canouna do you think they are updating the kernel from 6.2 to 7.0?
    Currently we have 6.2.

    Vista 6.0
    W7 6.1

This is the most important question IMHO and will deterrmine if w8 will be just a better w7, or a complete 'new' OS with all the issues Vista has had. :D

Since the kernel update is at the early stage I guess there will be no more update and W8 will just be W7 with some new features...

i don't think so man.....all done till now(if this is all) it can be summarized in Win7 Sp2, my thought are that in these early builds they keep yhe main gui as win7, workin on kernel, so we are going to expect a complete 'new' OS without all the issues Vista has had....they are getting better....

PS big thanks Yen, now is really better.....

Vista had its issues because of the major update of the kernel!!!
New kernel--> complete new drivers-->need support of manufacturers. If they say no, then nobody will have the hardware running properly. It was even worse at 64 bit Vista.

Compare xp to Vista, and then compare Vista to W7. W7 compared to Vista is no 'new' OS. It's just completed.

PS: The MDL team tries to manage the stickies. Thanks for your ideas.

    well done,
but we use already a 6.2 kernel (i've tested on my own, and a lot of them can confirm, a lot of drivers does not work on 7 compatibility mode, and the new drivers install one with aero supported[never written before]) we are going to need new drivers when 8 'll come out, so we are going (hope not) a have a vista bugs?
7 it is vista completed(far far better), so that's why i think this time M$ will give us a new OS, with a new GUI and lot of new features.

@canouna, what do you think of that?
Master because you're simply man honored with that name for all the things done till today....

not forgetting all the staff here doing a very great work!!

    nice goin'

RTM build must be a multiple of 100 & 16; the minor build number must start from 2^14=16384. Don't ask me the source, check it out with MS.

    What means that?

The new OOBE is also in the 7955, but you have to unlock it.

Doesn't work in 7955 because it says that it's not finding the required files.
