How? The registry key for MSAHCI is missing and I found some information about the Developer Preview but the registry key from that information is also not in the Consumer Preview.

Has anyone figured it out yet? I really don't want to reinstall.

It could be Microsoft are finally having the AHCI driver loaded by default regardless of whether in AHCI mode or not....

LIKE THEY SHOULD HAVE DONE IN THE FIRST PLACE

The reason why it isn't default is because Microsoft has set it up to not load drivers if not needed. This is one driver that should have been excluded from this principle right from when it first came out (XP days). They've had plenty of chances to get it right, XP SP3, Vista, 7... yet they still insisted on leaving it as is, leaving many people with BSODS and being annoyed that they could get AHCI, since IDE was until recently, the default in many bioses.
