My dell came with W8 core.

I have a legitimate W7 Ultimate copy. Can i reload W7 on the laptop ?

    Thanks...

Thanks Tito. So, I do the following:

disable secure boot in the bios
    install W7
    activate it using my key

What will happen to the W8 key in my bios ? Will it be deleted ?

Nothing will happen, it will remain there.

Not sure, but I think it auto-find the key in your UEFI and auto installs that key and activates online. You might have to install Windows with a generic OEM key though, but that key is only to tell windows it has to look in UEFI for a real valid key.

Dammit, I thought it was anees27 asking how to activate 8 if he wanted to switch back...

At present, I think, you need a legit or leaked key for that.

If it's a real key that has never been used then yes, it will. If it's a generic OEM key it won't, if it's the same as in MSDM it won't either.

AND DON'T YOU DARE TO STEAL SOMEONE ELSES KEY!!!!!!

ok, thanks for the help guys. To give some feedback:

I disabled secureboot and i also had to disable UEFI boot and switch to legacy boot.
    AHCI was left as enabled.

    I installed W7 ultimate ( dell version ) and it works...no problems.
