Hi all, I have two Acer desktops that came with windows 8.1 core(oem) - factory installed. I want to reinstall the OS (bloat-ware). I'm hoping to recieve a factory pressed original win 8.1 pro DVD through the mail any day now. Is there some way to use this pro DVD, to reinstall core on both the desktops. (I would like to avoid downloading an iso, as the machines might be infected - thereby contaminating the iso). Really appreciate any help, members can contribute.
No recovery partition on the drive you can restore? Generally the case unless it's been deleted prior
It's actually in the post - ordered backup media from MS. Arriving soon: one win 8.1 pro retail disc -backup media. I'm hoping that I can somehow use this to reinstall the os on the core machines too. Is this infact, even possible?
@Bakersfield It should, as the retail media should be originated from MSDN multiple editions ISO which consists of both Core & Pro SKUs.
I really can't believe what's happened. I had purchased the win 8 pro pre-release digital download license, heavily discounted. It's upgraded to win 8.1 all the way. It's a retail channel copy. The MS guy I've been corresponding with sent me a win 8 pro disc, even though i specifically asked them for a Nov rollup win 8.1 pro disc. He has said that He can only supply replacement media for the original order. The guy is either incompetent or was a bureaucrat from birth. I am in Scotland. Can anyone at all tell me, how I can buy replacement media, that is original, factory pressed in the UK. I do not need a key I just want an original media disc - Win 8.1 pro. Is there a department or contact service that can deal with this competently? Bakersfield.
