My friend have got a retail version of Windows 8 Enterprise on today. He installed it in his laptop and after the installation Windows asks him to activate it. He was bit surprised and confused about the activation since he thinks it should have activated automatically after the installtion. And after that he checked the activation status and the following error shows when he clicks the activate button:

    Screenshot.jpg

    Error code: 0x8007007B
Error description: The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.

But the product key have been installed automatically at the time of or after the installation it seems. Its there in the activation window. Will Windows 8 activates automatically after few hours?

    Any ideas guys?

    ...

You are saying he installed Enterprise and was surprised it didn't auto-activate, comn..

Enterprise does not activate on it's own, you need a legit MAK Key or KMS activate it.
