Trying to install Windows 8 Dev 64bit from USB (used Windows 7 DVD/USB Flash Tool from MS' site).

It boots off USB fine, but then I get the errors shown in screenshot?

    Running netbook, ASUS UL20A.

You might want to try uploading the first attachment again so that we can see the error message, I'm not seeing anything here.

My bad, I should have read post#1 more carefully.

I used this instruction (courtesy of kldpdas), they worked for me:

To prepare USB, run cmd as adminstrator:

    diskpart.exe
    list disk
    (locate usb drive)
    select disk x(x=usb disk no.)
    clean
    create partition primary
    select partition 1
    active
    format fs=ntfs quick

Then extract ISO using Ultra ISO or any other ISO utilities to your USB.

So just above, what about copying boot manager (?) so the bios picks up the usb as bootable o/s ?

If you do all the above, the USB will be bootable. Can you make USB as the first boot device?

How many partitions do you have on your hard drive?

Yes it was first boot device (USB)

I have 3 partitions: restore, main and 3rd I created yesterday (backup files)

It would be better if you format one of these partitions before installing windows 8 to it.

Are you sure that will work before I risk this chance? I'm using a netbook, don't have external dvd or backup w7 copy

It would be better if you have a portable hard drive to backup all the stuff before doing anything to the netbook. I always format the partition before installing any new windows to that partition. It's all up to you, I don't want take any responsibilities.

I think the file you download was corrupted,i had same problem before, when tried to install on desktop either burn it to DVD or used Windows 7 DVD/USB Flash Tool from MS' site, after i redownloaded another version 64+tool, then installed fine no problem.

Its actually not system restore, its called system reserve (100MB) and won't let me delete it. Any other options to get Win8 on my netbook?

Can you make DVD your first boot device? Do you have Hiren's Boot CD or Partition Wizard Boot CD? You need to boot into one of those CD and format that partition in order to install Win8.

Then use USB in place of DVD, but you still need to boot to USB and use partition utility to format it.
