windows 8 wont let me install the wireless driver I want,
I try and install a later driver and it says the driver you have is newer than the one I'm trying to install

    ok,
so I uninstall the driver so I can put the one I want on
then windows 8 auto installs the original one back again

no mater how much I try, the original driver just pops back again before I get chance to try the new one

anyone go any suggestions how to force the driver I want to try

and the reason for wanting to try a new driver is because the wireless keeps disconnecting at random intervals
    and have to manually reconnect

My suggestion: When you download the latest driver, does it have a setup.exe? If so run that as Administrator.

    good suggestion's, thankyou
    its not an installer
    separate files from an archive

cat, inf, pdb and sys files.

what is the advanced startup, you mean F8 on bootup ??

In that case, try this. Control Panel, Device Manager, Network Adapters. Click on the arrow next to Network Adapters so it opens up. Select your adapter. Right click on your adapter and select Update Driver Software. Of the two choices, select Browse my computer for the software. Navigate to where your downloaded drivers are located. Let us know if this method allowed you to replace the Windows drivers with the manufacturer's drivers. Good luck.
