    Hi Guys!

Finally I'm completely confused about the version chaos of windows 8...

I bought a new Laptop and it came with windows 8 "core" preinstalled. Since I wanted to encrypt my data drive with bitlocker I subsequently purchased the "Windows 8 Pro Pack" by the "Add a feature" function online.

So far so bad... I initially thought I would be able to download the pro-iso file and do a clean install afterwards to remove the bloatware... apparently this was a mistake... I wasnt provided with any isos, just with a key which activated the pro-functions and that was it... nothing.

My question is what should be my next step to achieve a clean install of windows 8 pro with mediacenter which i genuinely bought but cant reinstall

I also fear that the new key maybe has overwritten the preinstalled core license...

I would be very thankful if anybody would explain this to me...
    Have a nice weekend!
    Andi

currently it is in unusable state or just unactivated ? Is there a factory recovery partition on the HDD?

Also what is the name and MDL. of the machine?

    thx for your fast response!

The system is genuinely activated in an perfectly usable state - I just hate preinstalled bloatware ... so I would like to do a reinstall...

Yes there is a recovery partition on the SSD harddrive ... but I fear that will not do the trick since ASUS which is the manufacturer of my Laptop has altered this version. The Laptop is a G75VX (Republic of Gamers).

I'm sorry, I don't know what the acronym MDL stands for.

    Thx in advance! :worthy:

    1. Take a small external HDD,
    2. uncompress the iso onto that HDD...
    3. unplug HDD
    4. Reboot
    5. insert the usb HDD
    6. run from the external HDD,

    some manufactures have stated this:
    open and select add features
when ask click already has key
enter the key and when your done you will have your new upgrade...
that is why many "Online" sellers only send you the KEY not MEDIA....

DO NOT BOOT TO MEDIA -

Are you able to add media center through add features to windows and adding you WMC product key. If you can do that, you can just use the Windows 8 reset function which to my knowledge provides the same advantages as a clean install..
