No WMC for Pro VL version, only for Pro Retail :smartass:.

BTW: For the activation route, there´s only KMS to be discussed here @MDL for Windows 8 :D.

So, i need to download the file .iso Windows 8 Pro Retail? Or just download the .iso Windows 8 Pro, and use a key Retail Pro to activate? Sorry, but i am a novice in these things >.<

You need the RETAIL ISO. That's the one including both CORE+PRO. There exists also a VL PRO ISO, that one is a dead end because it doesn't include the ''Add Features'' functionality.

The english Retail x64 version would be: en_windows_8_x64_dvd_915440.iso

Oh, then i have to download another .iso o_O What would the name of that .iso?
I saw on the MSDN page that this file belongs to: en_windows_8_x64_dvd_915440.iso (Windows 8 and Windows 8 Pro). No Retail indicated, i'm not sure if this is correct.

Not shure whether Pro VL can be changed that easy to Retail, would guess VL to be like Enterprise regarding the activation channel.
Unfortunately have no VL ISO to test .

A silly question, then I can not install WMC with this .iso? In the MSDN page, i don't find any .iso that mentions 'Windows 8 Pro Retail'.

If it doesn't say "VL" volume then it is retail.

Yeah...the ISO i posted is Retail :D. In this case only the VL ISO is mentioning this in it´s name. If there is no '_vl_' mentioned, then it is Retail. Only slightly confusing :cool2:.

Ohh, begins to clear better the things ^^

I find this a little strange, because i was reading that the 'VL' version was better than the 'RTM', because it was easier to activate, and other things. Now, after all that has been mentioned, i doubt very much that 'VL' is better, hehe.

in your case VL is not better because you want WMC, in normal circumstances VL is as easy or easier. VL cannot have WMC.

You heard some rumours...:D. The Retail ISO has the advantage that it can be activated with all activation channels, depending on the installed key.

One diffenrence is, the VL come with key (gVLK) preinstalled and with an ei.cfg. In opposite the Retail ISO is 'clean'. If you insert an eif.cfg with this content:
    Code:
    [Channel]
    Volume

    [VL]
    0
to the \sources\ folder of the Retail ISO, it will allow to choose the Edition and the key input can be skipped.

BTW: Both versions are RTM = Release To Manufacturer :D.

I took a Retail ISO and put in a VL key and was able to activate VL so it "should" work the other way. IDK- will test in a bit.

My retail ISOs have an ei.cfg, so i can skip the key install during Setup and install the key afterwards. Microsoft Toolkit will do this via 'EZ-Activator' automatically for the user.

They can even be installed using the matching gVLK :D.

Created a WIM via Sysprep which already has the KMS Server Service installed in demand mode and two tasks to reactivate every 24 hours and at every LogOn via simple CMD; to start service, activate all VL products and stop the service afterwards. Windows is already activated at first startup, as the ONLOGON task does a good job :D.

Now I'm downloading the new .iso. What would be the best way to install and activate Windows 8 Pro Retail and WMC?

    • Creating a .iso (Windows 8 Pro with WMC) on a bootable USB, using Windows Download Integrator (WDI).
    • Install Windows 8 Pro individually at first instance (WDI or USB bootable with Windows 7 USB/Download tool), then activate it with Microsoft Toolkit and then activate WMC with a key or by activating the phone via Skype.
I hope tips or others suggestions, thanks :)

Personally i don´t recommend the skype route, as the keys are blocked very fast and you´ll need to do that every time your hardware changes or Windows deactivates for other reasons, with a new key. On the other hand it´s not allowed to be discussed here in detail.

Due to i´m using KMS, i created a ProfessionalWMC ISO manually. The new one is already activated when it starts first :good3:. It´s ways faster then installing Pro first than adding the WMC feature.
