I started this thead because almost day I can observe something new in Windows 8..Yesterday I uninstalled Messages feature from Metro Start.I was wondering after that why my Facebook chat is disconnected (IE10) but is running well in immersive IE10 ?And another find: I used other Windows feature: Reinstalled Windows from control panel feature:Refresh PC without lose my personal files...etc.This will add in the end of process a folder called Windows.old but not this is important...for me seems Windows is NOT working well even I deleted windows.old folder, system is less responsive, high memory used and so on.Seems that feature is a temporary solution cuz I had to reinstall Windows on ''clean'' to get back my W8 speed and reliability.

Its windows old behavior.. After fresh install its like Made in USA Product... After application installed & continuous usage its like Made in China... Old windows track continue even with new releases..

    But still Its better...

One of the problems which slows Windows down is the registry. Even if you "Refresh" Windows 8, the Registry is still the old one full with crap. As longer you Windows use and as more Apps you install and uninstall, the Registry is growing.

I use to manually clean the Registry each time I uninstall an Apps and that I do twice: first with MS own Regedit and after that with Registrar Registry Manager. Even if using a normal Registry Cleaner Apps, there's still to much "rubbish" left!

@pisthai Regarding refresh, above is not correct.. Refresh keeps personal data, installed metro apps & settings but not any desktop and 3rd party app & registry/settings related to those apps.

    Sorry, that isn't correct.

I had refresh once just yesterday one of my Office Computers and after that it were still need a long startup for to load all Apps etc. and therefore I checked the Registry and found the entries for 3. Party Apps there like Adobe CS 6, Corel Designer X5 and others. So, if the registry would be new while refresh, special 3. Party Apps should have "gone", or am I wrong? Also all entries for Office 2010 wre still in Registry and pther MS Software which were install before.

Personal data doesn't matter because those are on external drives and not on the machine. Same for software which run without installation (portable).

After deleting all that entries, Windows were starting normal.

You can run diagnostics to identify problem...

    Perform System maintenance troubleshooter.
    Follow these steps:
Press Windows key + W on the keyboard
Type Troubleshooter then click on Settings under the Search field
In Settings click on Find and Fix Problems
    Click on System and security
Click System maintenance follow the prompts from there.

    Run memory diagnostic tool

Go to Control Panel, Click the "System and Security"
    click on the "Administrative Tool"
in administrative tool Window, you will see a list of options. You click on the "windows memory diagnostic"
You will see "check your computer for memory problems", click on "restart now and check for problems"
then the windows memory diagnostic tool starts checking and restarts automatically and displays the result
