I would check your system files by doing this

Open an elevated command prompt (Win + X) and typing: sfc /scannow

let is run, if it finds some system file errors it will correct them... :animatedwink:

    Try windows troubleshooter...

Go to control panel>>Click "Find & Fix Problem"
In left panel choose "View All" & click "windows update" & follow prompts...

The error code: 80073712 is an quite old one which goes back to Vista.

    You could try the following:
    • open Administrative Tools/Services seach for Windows Update service and stop it
    • got to: c:\windows\SoftwareDistribution and delete all files an folders
    • go back to Administrative Tools/Services and restart Windows Update service
    • manual run Update Services
That could help. The deleted Folders etc. will be rebuild while restarting the Windows Update service.

    Still same error.
I was reading MS tech forum for this error. I have tried what they said to do.
They said if those things dont work that the only thing I can do is reinstall OS.
And yes it is from the days of Vista and there has been a few others that have come across this same error. Everything still works find and other updates still install fine with no errors only those two cause the problem. The two updates are KB2742616 and KB2796096.
Had another update KB2267602 install fine today.
Would really like to know why those two dont want to install.
Does anyone know if there is a way to do a direct download and install of those two updates.
Also does anyone here know how one can remove IE. I dont use it and sometime it opens when I open something in outlook.
I know that one of those updates is for IE.

    Admin - CMD

    Code:
    dism /online /Disable-Feature /FeatureName:Internet-Explorer-Optional-amd64
Note:you will need IE to acess few of their resources.

Yes have checked this and tried but still no go.
I guess the only thing I can try next to reinstalling is to do the in-place-upgrade.
I will give that a try in the morning I guess

Just curious: Have you updated your BIOS to latest available?

Also: What's about the Driver used: Microsoft or MB/Laptop manufacturer?
