It's logic. You can't upgrade Windows 7 SP1 to Windows 7* !!!! *The leaked build is same as Win7 ISO excluding install.wim.
I would do it in VMWare Workstation 8 (because that works on Windows 8) but I don't have it any place I can get it?
Cannot Upgrade from Win7 Pro to Windows 8 Build 7955 Hi All, I have been reading this forum for quite a while now, and decided to make an account today. I have a problem. I want to upgrade my installed copy of Windows 7 Professional to Windows 8 Build 7955 . I have been trying to do this via USB (as I am using a netbook), but I get up to the 'what type of installation do you want' screen, click Upgrade installation (the screen showing 'checking compatability' shows up) and then I get an error message stating 'To upgrade from one edition of Windows 7 to another edition of Windows 7, use Windows Anytime Upgrade. Cancel the upgrade and.....' Anyone successfully 'upgraded' to Windows 8 build 7955? If so how? Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Dean
Hey Guys, Thanks for the responses. I have modified some registry values and I have actually passed the 'Checking Compatibility' stage!! Changed the following values: EditionID: Ultimate >>>Was [Professional] InstallationType: Server >>>Was [Client] ProductName: Windows Vista (TM) Ultimate >>>Was [Windows 7 (TM) Professional] So far, so good! Thanks, Dean
Hi Guys, Setup just failed with the error message on the first page no_short_urls_allowed/iYYmVN Anyone have any other ideas?? Thanks, Dean
I'm pretty sure I'm using the original Windows 8 installer - It has let me install on other PC's. But I ran Windows 8 ISO Verifier and the message came up 'Sorry, ISO does not match the hash database. You may have a tampered ISO. If you are scanning Windows 8 Build 7959 x64 Server (which I'm not), only the BA ISO hash is stored in our database. So what exactly does this mean? What should I do now?
kldpdas, would you be able to direct me to the whereabouts of the Originial Windows 8 installer (the page the post is on and who wrote it please) Thanks, Dean
This may sound confusing, but I am doing it as: 1. This is a school netbook. I have two cloned partitions with windows 7 pro on them. 1 is for Windows 7 Pro (don't touch that) and the other is for trying to upgrade Windows 7 pro, to Windows 8 Build 7955. 2. Why do I want to upgrade? - I keep all my network settings etc, and since I can't join the domain myself and whatnot, I want to be able to use windows 8 on my netbook at school to show it off to people and to also still be using the network with Windows 8. 3. I get bored easily Lol any questions?
