So which OEM key will work with the Windows 8 $39.99 that Microsoft is offering? I bought a PC that came with a Vista OEM disk and label - doe's this qualify?
In the future, you probably should've just asked this in the thread about the $40 upgrade instead of starting a new thread. AFAIK, any legal XP, Vista or 7 installation qualifies. If you have an OEM key for Vista, as far as the information presented so far, it would qualify.
Thanks for your reply, one more question - My Vista OEM is 32 bit, I want to switch to 64 bit Win 8 Pro. Is this possible using the $39.99 offer?
The key/license is not limited to 32-bit to 64-bit. But if you have a 32-bit INSTALLATION, you can't upgrade to 64-bit.
As far as known, you can, but you cannot upgrade from Vista 32 bit to W8 64 bit. You need a clean install
To clarify, although this is my opinion, I think you can pay $40 when you have 32-bit Vista and want 64-bit W8. In this sense, you can upgrade. In the technical sense, as stated, you'll have to clean install with this "upgrade" that you would download in this fashion.
is it possible and save to upgrade from a slic 2.1 bios patched Version to Windows 8. I think this could be a save and cheap Alternative to any other method.
