Is there a registry setting to return Win 8 volume control back to the linear steps we had in every Windows pre-8?

(ie: go back to every volume click being 1 step, rather than the non-predictable mess we have now)

Maybe the OP has changed the settings of his Mouse?! If he'd changed the lines to scroll using the Wheel, some actions in Apps will change!

Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...

AFAIK, the scroll wheel or grabbing the slider have always been the only way to get 1 step resolution. I've never been able to click 1 step at a time.

    What is the click method?

I drag it 1 notch at a time or use control on KB.
