    unless you have a valid/legit W8 key it's not even a possibility .. Most stable W7

Am I running windows 8? yes on 2 machines but still testing .. Driver support still needed on some things

Where is all my data and everyday computing done? W7 ultimate x64

Will I change to W8 in the near future as main OS? not likely will see what happens with blue or SP 1

Do I like W8? It has it's positives for sure

Using Win 8 as main OS for some month now, no problems here. Depends mostly on games and software you use. Not all are compatible to Win 8. There is no absolute answer to your question, you have to check yourself, to assure whats running, or not, i guess.

I agree with you...and I have full driver support from DELL.Inc based on my service-tag.BUT....I also waiting for W7SP2 or Blue.About 8: I think MS had a mistake with no option to chose between Metro or Classic GUI.BTW:There are any ppl who's crying for Aero...:D

StartIsBack, Start8 and even Classic Shell, as the free version of those tools, give back that option, MS "forgot" to implement :D. So i guess, this shouldn´t be a real problem.

I used modified OS before and my answer is NO. I have no trust anymore in programs wich modify OS.Only if these options are from OS itself and the programms are enabling this kind of stuff. But how about Aero?Seems no one is qble to add it back.:(

it all depends how you use your computer and your personal preferences, if you're going to use graphic, 3D and video editing software then windows 7 is a better choice for stability and speed (3D renders + multiple Photoshop filters + encoding speed)

I disagree! if you have Windows 7 configured exactly the same way on a sata3 SSD Windows 8 is not faster - in fact it is slower if you compare when you can actually launch an application straight after booting up!! M$ did a David Copperfield speed illusion on that one - the start screen appears early in the boot process but you have to wait a while before you can launch anything on the desktop as it is still loading for quite a few seconds more and the notification area icons are quite lethargic to show up!!

I saw this issue on my machine too:Start screen appears early but the OS need some time until full work..and I have Photoshop,VM's....but I have no issues with these not even with farming simulator 2013.All works good...

BINGO! I noticed that also. I can boot and sign in but I can't do anything for another 10 to 15 seconds.
Even if you just count getting to the sign on screen win 7 just as fast on an SSD. Beside how important is it that your OS boots 5 seconds faster or shuts down fast? Its not like you're chained to the PC until it shuts down. Just hit shut down and walk away you dont' have to watch it.

And really if thats the best new feature I say win 8 is big time fail (well I say that anyways lol)

No you're all correct of course - fast boot and shutdown is not really what makes an OS great

I personally don't mind either Win 7 or 8 as long as they're free :tea:

It still all depend really. some users update to win 8 .. and they don't like the start menu ; metro etc and tried to make changes to look like WIN 7. if this is the case then Win 7 is best for you. perhaps tried dual booting ?

Go to 7 or above (or Linux). Starting of the Windows 8 will be very difficult to use for free (without risk).

I personnaly like using W8 as main os, with a dual-boot (Linux). I found out it has a lower RAM consumption, and more reactive. Plus i love the interface (GUI), and some metro apps look great (have a look at Metro UI VLC player  ). I also think we have a faster access to the start mesnu's apps, even if some say it is not for PC but tablet... Concerning games, there're running as fine as they used to do on Seven, i didn't notice any FPS lost. But there're still some apps that don't run under W8 yet. But this is my own opinion on the subject btw.

If I go back to Win 7 and use Daz Loader as before, will I run into the new Microsoft genuine validation thing? Thanks.
