Ok, I've finally become desperate at for help. I have an Asus X55C that the hard drive recently died on (that's why I don't have the OEM key) and of course Asus doesn't put it on the systems body. I have tried reading with RW Everything, the MSDM area doesn't exist. I have tried many many times to get this working and am at a loss... I have the MSDN install, I am installing using UEFI...Am just now totally lost. Is there some specific license key I should use or am I just SOL? Thanks
Which SKU do you installed ? Are you used Microsoft Toolkit ? Are you used Windows 8.0 or Windows 8.1 ?
Microsoft Toolkit is for KMS. I am using core since I imagine this crap didn't come with pro. 8.0 for now, will update to 8.1
Good luck with 8.1 but plz give use feedback, which is better 8.1 or 8.? But try 8 pro first you'll find it very good as I think it is. enjoy.
I can't update to 8.1 until I get 8.0 activating. This laptop CAME with 8, so I need to find why I can't activate it now. I've tried to use the drive but it's totally cooked...Another thing to note is this laptop does NOT have secure boot at all.
Get the windows 8 keyviewer and check it on th online pid checker to find the first version installed.
Their is no MSDM key, so nothing to read...Tried all of this. Not my laptop, it's my fiance's cousin's laptop and the drive was dead when I got it.
Decided will just use Windows Loader on it since I have no other choice, the OEM must not have copied the MSDM table.
But the Asus X55C ships with a Windows 7 OS right, when you got the laptop, if the os installed was windows 8 and then I think the windows 8 os installed would be a retail version or a oem key version which was purchased separately. then the laptop would not contain a MSDM Key.
