I can't get my USB drive working with 8. I have a SanDisk Cruzer Slice and it works fine in 7. But it won't appear in Windows 8, if I plug it in. It shows the device in Safely Remove Devices... and shows it in Disk Manager but won't let me access it or see it in Computer... Why??

I formatted it and still nothing, yet works fine with 7 and even my USB TV.

Try HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool
    download.cnet.com/HP-USB-Disk-Storage-Format-Tool/3000-2094_4-10974082.html

I am using a Memorex mini and and a Kingston Data Traveler, both work fine. I had two SanDisk Cruiser drives and they both died.

I'm just curious to why it won't work with 8. My other drives work with 8 and they were all formatted and work fine in Windows 7. It's detected but won't show up, either this build is messed up or I'm clueless.

It's probably just a crap drive that win 8 is incompatible with, shame :/

It's a decent drive and every other OS including my T.V detects it ... I may reinstall 8 to see if it's just being buggy.

Are you by any chance using a USB3 port?

nope, this is a major showstopper bug with this build, surprised no one has not noticed sooner, hope it gets reported as such, lol

Nope, laptop only has USB2 and that's what my USB is too.

How's it a showstopper bug as it's fine with 2 other USB drives just not this one... Even if it was, it's likely fixed as they're now up to 8011 I believe.

I guess each person has it's own 'showstoppers' or whatever, seems the build works fine for the majority of us, in the USB drive aspect anyways or they'd be bitching and moaning since day 1.

try going to disk managment and right click on it so you can assign a drive letter and see if that works
