Is it possible to install windows 98 from an ISO with Win7's default virtualization software? 2 hours of trying so far, but I can't get 98 setup to run. I'm trying from an ISO file. I must be missing something. I'm running 7x64 ultimate. XP works fine in VHD. Should I try different software? edit: Maybe I should turn autorun on??

I don't understand why your trying to get windows 98 to work but I won't ask...
However I would recommend Vmware Workstation it hasn't let me down yet...

I have a couple of OLD games that only play on 98. I miss 'em. None of my motherboards support 98 anymore though.

Ok UnderShadow you post really nice information. but I think we need bootable cd or its image to install win 98 in vmware 7.0.1. other wise you need to boot vmware 7.0.1 and then run cmd mode and go to win 98 folder and then run setup file. its working. try it.
