Hello, guys.. It's all happening after I taste clean install of Windows 10 1903 Sept 2019 build 18362.356. It's always requires login to access NAS even though I made it Public so guest could access it. It's only happened for clean install, and yet the one that went to 18362.356 through Windows Update doesn't require login (no credential saved). Is there any workaround to fix that so I can access Public NAS without requires authentication? PS: I'm using Join Domain PC
I don't know where you need to sign in, but usually it's related about storing data on your computer or phone. For it may be used special file or cookies. 1. what does mean this NAS, is it Network-attached storage and then which exactly 2. why 18362.356 if current is 18363.535 3. usually for automatic log in Your data (not only username and password, but also your location, your computer ID, your IP etc) must be stored in your computer or phone and if not or at least one of them has been changed, You must log in again. If it is related to web, must be allowed cookies and they must be stored. As soon as You delete cookies, You must log in again. You must also remember, that all cookies are valid only for limited time. Example: for forums usually 30 minutes after log of or after last activity even if You have not loged off. Fore other places the cookies may have extended time limitation, usuall it is 24 hours, but sometimes 1 week.
Thank you @kaljukass for your reply, I might forgot to tell that I'm accessing this Network Attached Storage via Windows Explorer, we are sharing files using it. We are using WD MyCloud. And by 18362.356, I mean the clean install of previous build doesn't require any authentication to access Public Sharing Folder inside NAS. I believe there should be any workaround to this, since the upgraded one doesn't require any authentication to access the files inside NAS.
Some friend of mine had that kind of trouble and they tried this : You have to set "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanWorkstation\Parameters\AllowInsecureGuestAuth" to 1 if the share is public and requires no special authentication. You may also have to enable/run 2 system services : "Function DiscoveryProvider Host" and "Function Discovery Resource Publication" , both of which got disabled by default, and should be required for network sharing/browsing. These changes have silently been introduced (and mostly undocumented) in 1803 as part of the effort of forcing people to use OneDrive, even for sharing stuff between home computers. Hope it can help someone
Thank you @patapout for your reply, The problem solved using your method, thank you very much. I believe those two services are optional, since I can open the sharing folder by only change the key. Glad you found my thread. Regards.
