Hope someone can help me. I have an internal hd and used as external hd with an enclosure. It's Seagate 3Tb. Windows 10 was able to see the drive and I can access it. For a few months now, I have not plugged to my desktop because we moved. Until last week, I plugged to desktop and Windows 10 did not detect the HD. When power on the ext HD, I hear a little loud spin for a few second then normal near quite spin. I hear Windows 10 USB peep sound that USB3 was connected but no ext. drive show. I check in Disk Mgt, and nothing their besides normal internal desktop drive. At first I thought it the enclosure was malfunction so I went and purchase a new one. Still same result. I tried other ext. hd i had and windows 10 find it but not the 3tb. I even plugged to macOS and still no drive found not even in Disk Utility either. I haven't try Ubuntu. Thanks
Reading the thread, I don't think mine will work since it's 7200.14 not 7200.11 My HD: Barracuda 300GB - 7200.14 Model : ST3000DM001 S/N : W1F0YKCC P/N : 9YN166-306 Fw : CC4H Date :13115 Site : WU Board: 100664987 Rev B
Did you by any chance drop it or had a nudge when moving? However, try a different cable or try a USB 2.0 case.
