windows cannot access the specified device,path,or file. windows 7 ultimate

    i installed 7 ultimate on a dell precision 380 workstation i had windows xp before....but everything installed fine untill after i logged on i tried to go on in my computer or control panel..it wont let me i keep getting an error message saying "windows cannot access the specified device,path,or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item" so im seriously lost and have no idea what to do at this point...SO PLZZZZ help

    Make sure you are logged in as an administrator (account full control)


    open up explorer.

    rightclick the c:\ drive, choose properties.

    select the security tab. Now click the edit button.
    click add>advanced>search now.

    doubleclick Administrators, and again click ok.
    now select Administrators in the list and make sure it has full control.

    EDIT : do the same for all other drives you may have hooked up.
