Anyone else getting this error after restarting Windows 8.1 after downloading the GA update rollup? It's like a 200mb download but it seems to download it too fast as if it's downloading only half of it then it says to restart and I'm confronted with this error. I'm still using the RTM x64 iso.

That's odd. I guess I'm screwed. I'm not re-installing it again. Is there anywhere I can download the update manually?

Thanks, I'll definitely try that! Though it doesn't look like I have KB2894179. I'll try that though.

4 updates gave me issues saying pending a restart even 1 day and many restarts later.

I removed them and tried a few times in different orders 1 at a time and got there in the end.

I give up for now this is so ridiculous. I got KB2894179 installed just fine restarted tried KB2883200 again and it just hangs like in the image above. I also deleted all the files in the downloads folder inside the Software Distrubuation folder restarted the update server went to Windows update it actually started downloading it for once but after 5% downloading it said restart I did and got the same message "windows could not complete the updates undoing changes" BS I don't get it. I really don't want to re install :(

How long are you giving it before saying it's hanging? KB2883200 is a huge update and it may take quite a while to install. Some updates install almost immediately, but KB2883200 is one of the largest Windows update there is, other than service packs.

The image you posted is showing nothing abnormal- it just hasn't finished yet. Reboot, and try installing it again. Give it up to 20 minutes to complete.

And as Helmutcheese suggested, uninstall all other updates and have only KB2894179 installed before starting KB2883200, if problems continue.

First time I tried I let it set for about an hour. I'll try it again if that doesn't work I'll uninstall all updates except KB2894179. If that doesn't work. I don't know lol.

The first time you use windows update in 8.1 it will just sit there doing nothing...
you have to start the check and either stop it or reboot.
you can stop it with 'net stop wuauserv'
    then simply recheck for updates.

Try with the update order as stated above. I had the same problem.
Download all the GA updates, do a sfc /scannow, and then install the updates in the order suggested.

Already tried all of that with the same results. I still have an image backup of Windows 8. Might install that then upgrade to 8.1 via the store. Thanks for your help guys!

Sorry for bumping. I had to do a refresh install of the store update version and now I'm having that same problem. 8.1 seems to refuse to download and install KB2883200. Even doing it manually the bar never finishes. So annoying. This is a refresh. I haven't even installed anything.

Id get a full 8.1 iso and perform a clean install, seems like you already wasted too much time trying to fix the issue.

Yeah, I might have to end up doing that. I don't get what the problem is :/ I'll try a few more things before I do that though.
