Can someone tell me how to stop the windows defender firewall service and disable it? Its greyed out in services and trying to set the start type in registry to 3 didn't help. I'm new to this windows defender firewall that used to be called just windows firewall that was easy to disable.

    Code:
    reg add "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\MpsSvc" /v "Start" /t REG_DWORD /d "4" /f

Thx but after adding this to the registry and rebooting it was still running. Ignore that I just went in and manually changed the value to 4 since it was still 3 and it worked

Windows Firewall is disabled automatically when you install another known firewall.

Wow! I'm surprised almost every day with new unknown things for me!

I do know Windows Defender and Windows Firewall as separate programs.
Is this Windows Defender Firewall a new hybrid or something?

The service might be still required though. In 1703, it was needed by Windows Updates (not in 1709) and to install/update store apps (I am unable to test this, since I broke store).

Nope, WF was just renamed to WDF. MS wants to keep everything security related under one roof and as you stated, it sounds like firewall is a separate program. WD is basically a full security suite.

That depends, but most computers are being routers, so firewall is pretty much useless. I have not been using it for years.

well the inbound and outbound port rules are set...so it is doing something is blocking ports that venerable to hacks...MS did not add this feature for nothing to do nothing. now u want to disable this...make sure your router in configured correctly.

Because you have Binisoft's Windows Firewall Control installed. I like Sphinx's more though.

    Go to group policy.
    1 Windows key+R type gpedit.msc

2 Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Defender
