Hello, I was wondering if anyone has or knows of someplace to download a OEM Windows Me ISO? I've got a couple computers with ME OEM keys on them and was wanting to play around with it a little (Me is the only version of Windows I've never used, from 3.1 to 7). Thanks!

ME was the worst operating system in the history of MS. Don't waste your time. :D

I ran it for over two years and never had any problems with it. Others really dislike it though.

Thanks for the Winworld.com link! I downloaded and installed it, ran it for a couple days, was very disappointed in it, and formated and installed Windows 2000 instead. When I first installed it, it ran great, but after a few Windows updates and couple of installed programs later, it would freeze up all the time and I got fed up with it so i went back to Winworld and grabbed a 2000 Pro ISO and installed it instead. Haven't had it freeze up once! :p

Not surprised, why would you even consider running Windows Mistake Edition? :laie:
The task manager doesn't list anything except visible applications being it doesn't have the option to list processes and it constantly freezes. :laie:

Another good place to download I've found, is mywindowspage(dot)com.

I've had win 95, Win Me, and Win NT4 from that site. All legit, untouched downloads. Only catch with Win 95 iso, is that you need the floppy image which is available elsewhere.

Could someone post the SHA1 hash of Windows ME before it was retired from MSDN?

The bootable OEM version of Windows ME is:

    Code:
      File: en_winme_oem.iso
      Size: 522,991,616 bytes
    CRC-32: 9aa2616d
       MD4: 90d01bce26e399f460dd8d973081faa8
       MD5: dd644769d2fa411029456425116a011d
     SHA-1: 25a7c617b3fc0e009e2ce5e7b5d4bba82537d8be

The only thing I could find was this:

Windows Millennium Edition (English) Full CD Version
    EN_WINME_FULL.exe UTC: 2000-10-03 22:56:00
    SHA1: d4b5a202d116fed20ce8279c035bfc2d480e7590 ISO/CRC:

But I have been unable to source it (found same named file but with non-matching SHA1). I assume there's its an SFX with an ISO in it, but no idea what the contained ISO's hash is. If you can find more information, please let me know.

If you google it... don't install it from the 1sttrax.net mirror, it appears to be corrupt. Downloaded twice and same result. A hex compare vs. a good MSDN copy yields that the download is missing about half of its data.

I may have found it, if the MD5 for the file is "FD2A6EF8C1AC477F53B450C31241E7D6". I'll verify when I can.

Yeah, guess it says a lot about the general view of Windows ME. Perhaps in a few short years Vista will be just as rare.

Don't quite get the exe thing, I know there are self-extracting releases on MSDN, but an OS. Guess we'll see.

Windows 95 seems to be more common than 98-FE, 98-SE and 98-TE (ME). But then again, I only just started to look for the 9X releases.

Yeah, I've been meaning for awhile now to collect older OS's, but only yesterday decided to give it a go.

Interesting, so the versions floating around with a msbatch.inf in them, are MSDN, what do you know :)

If you have the possibility to push that EXE up somewhere, it would be good.
