Just as Vista 64 did, the WMP icon in the taskbar in Win 7 64 bit points to the 32 bit version, I think to ensure better compatibility with codecs and plugins. I want to run the 64 bit version and I followed the procedure in this page: http://www.mydigitallife.net/2007/0...yer-11-wmp11-in-windows-vista-x64-as-default/ , after which I rebooted.

The problem is, when I open it and I choose"Pin this program to taskbar", WMP 12 shows two icons in the taskbar. The first one, in the right click menu shows Windows Media Player, Pin this program to taskbar and Close window. The second one shows wmplayer and Unpin this program from taskbar. When I go to the Compatiblity tab it doesn't allow me to change to Vista because it says that this program if part of this version of Windows.

Has anybody else ran into this, and found a solution?

Is there a way to tell which version of the player is open? I made a short cut to the 64 bit version and renamed the 32 bit version, how can I tell which is opening?

ETA - I get the 2 icons in the taskbar too.
