If you saw yesterdays WPC, you might have noticed the stuff about WP7 and that the new phones this fall are supposed to be half the price. (It makes sense, this allows for a ridiculous huge market share)

If you take the original price of the first wp7 devices there were at about 500~ euro, after a huge price cut they got nerfed to 200-250 bucks (thats already half), so if they take this even to the NEW PHONES, this will be ridiculous, why would anybody buy a s**t android handset with the same hardware for twice that money?
As the production of these phones seems to be a pretty small profit margin, microsoft is obviously bumping the manufactures with money :)

Consumers win this Fall and 2012, cheap high-end phones (with good hardware guys..), also Nokia is back and nokia has really great designs, so we finally get real designer Phones, not the s**t Samsung/HTC etc provides, though Nokia never was cheap so im not sure if we will also see them with that price (but they need to make profit alot, so selling expensive phones that compare to android/iphone once again isnt a good strategy)

I use Android and I think it's enough. It's not twice as expensive as a WP phone anyway, I bought mine for "cheap". Windows Phone is also in my opinion a little overrated, for some reason I just think so. Even Android and iOS have better customisation and and applications for download, Microsoft is trying to commercialise WP way too much.
About the pricing, WP phones have been... Well I think we could say a tad bit overpriced and knowing Microsoft I just don't believe they'll cut the price in that much.

If these long-awaited New Windows Phones are so easy to use and have a 100% compatibility with Windows 8, even grudgingly many will be the operating system more in massified pcs globally, because someone would buy a new Smarthphone would incompatible with your pc?
Just to say that uses another OS?
It would be sheer and utter folly, after all if you can use your WP without having compatibility issues nor need to convert your files, why not buy one that will not give you any extra work to synchronize it with your PC or notebook?
I think that when these new toys come out and they are really so attractive in price and in the visual market will suffer a real storm and who will be on the boat safer Microsoft will surely ...

I got a andriod device and i also find it isnt very expensive unless you want a brand new android smart phone like the galaxy s3, I dont think im ever going to try a windows phone unless i find a problem with android or if there are some new cool feature that attract my attention
