Hi, I've received a backup of Windows Server 2003 R2 Std with a product key, I installed it but there was no activation, how come it doesn't have to activate?, could this be a corporate key or will the CD have a crack in it?

I installed it on a custom built second hand computer, I didn't have to crack the activation, I installed it in a VirtualBOX as well, works no problem, the last 3 numbers of the PID from setupp.ini is 270, isn't that a Volume Licence?

Edit: The CD Name just gave it away, "VOL_EN" lol

So Volume Licence doesn't need to be activated?

correct any NT 5.x OS that uses a VLK doesn't need activation. Only NT 6.x and up require activation using KMS/MAK.
