    Is it possible to activate windows server 2008 (NOT R2) on a SLIC 2.1 based machine? if so I assume the 2.1 Cert is needed and not the 2.0 correct?

    Thanks!

    W2K8 needs 2.0 certificate (as does Vista)

    @sebus
    Basically there is no such thing as a 2.1 Certificate, someone here named it that way but actually it just a 2.0 Certificate signed on a later date (some vendors used a different signature)

    @mycorrado1
    So yes, on a bios with 2.1 SLIC one of the newer (Windows 7) certificates can be used as they are backwards compatible with Vista and Windows Server 2008.

    True, there is only one version of certificate with some manufacturers having "newer" signature ie Asus)
    Thanks for correcting me
