    Greetings:

I acquired Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials in a MS OPEN Agree, after that I downloaded the ISO image from the Microsoft Licencese Volume Licensing Services Center, the file is: "SW_DVD9_NTRL_Win_Svr_Essentials_2012_R2_64Bit_Spanish_-2_FPP_VL_OEM_X19-83586.iso"

I've tried to setup a Boot USB to Install the Windows Server from USB. I tried with Windows 7 USB/DVD Tool and configuring the USB manually using Diskpart but without any success at all. I also tried: WinSetupFromUSB, WinToFlash, WinUSB Maker and others, all fail.

I can mount the ISO file using Virtual CloneDrive and I see the contents but when I mount the ISO, that is 3.19Gb, mounted it weight 4.75 GB.

The Windows 7 USB/DVD Tool output is: "The selected file is not a valid ISO file. Please select a valid ISO file and try again."

Using Diskpart, at the moment to copy the files from the mounted ISO in DOS, I have this error: "El volumén de destino no admite vínculos simbólicos." In english is: "Filesystem does not support symbolic links", but I've already formated the USB in NTFS.

When I open the ISO with 7-Zip, there are one file and one folder, the folder [BOOT] only weights 4KB, inside that folder there is a file called Bootable_NoEmulation.img, also weights only 4KB!!!, and 7-Zip can't view any more files. I guess that's the issue.

Can anybody help me to setup an USB Bootable. Thanks in advance.

Rename the iso to "SW_DVD9_NTRL_Win_Svr_Essentials_2012_R2_64Bit_Spanish_-2_FPP_VL_OEM_X19-83586.iso" and try ..
There might be an unwanted space in the word "Span ish" .. Also make sure you check the checksums with your download (Sha-1 value) ..

    Thanks by answer:

Microsoft Licensing Center doesn't provide CRC or SHA, so I couldn't verify. I guess the ISO file is correct because I can mount and read the contents, but I can't copy to a USB.

I changed the name, same result. The space, I think, is introduced by Forum Site Software. I'm gonna try on another machine.

make any bootable USB, and then just delete its contents and extract the iso to that same usb with 7zip/winrar etc. Or use Rufus and make it bootable and select the iso for the usb all at the same time.

    Thanks EFA11

I tried with Diskpart, as Microsoft suggest: h_ttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj200124.aspx

I tried also: Rufus, Universal USB Installer, Win8USB, WinSetupFromUSB, WinToFlash, WinUSB Maker and the "official" Windows 7 USB-DVD Download Tool. None could create an Bootable USB.

I can't extract because 7-zip can't see the files, only the mentioned 2 items, [BOOT] Folder and readme.txt, into [BOOT] folder there is only one 4KB file: Bootable_NoEmulation.img and 7-Zip can't open.

If I mount the ISO I can see the files but I can't copy.

Id have to say try and get this.

    Code:
    File Name: es_windows_server_2012_r2_essentials_with_update_x64_dvd_6052849.iso
    Languages: Spanish
    SHA1: 88CDE405C0D6C6D75D123D28EEB8C86184709205
It is the same thing. I am guessing your file is corrupt at best.

Other than that, try opening the ISO with UltraISO and see if that results in anything

I'm not subscriber of MSDN, I think your suggestion can work, but I can't find it in "The Windows Server Repository" here in the forum (by WinDev). I searched here and the web and can't find it.

Do you know where can I download the file you kindly suggest me?

Like always with iso, Easy2Boot is the best option

But if youy have problem with as simple action as booting the iso, then maybe the whole process is too much for you?

Is there a way you can upload the English version of the file?

It should be, SW_DVD9_NTRL_Win_Svr_Essentials_2012_R2_64Bit_English_-2_FPP_VL_OEM_X19-8XXXX.ISO. (The Xs are undefined)

    Greatly appreciated!

I checked, but none had Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials VL version. There was an MSDN version, but was Retail, though.

Can someone add the VL version to the list?

There is no Volume version of Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials in English, only Retail version.

Really? I'm sure there is a VL version floating somewhere on VLSC. Positively.

I am sure one will surface eventually. But this shows you are correct ;) VLSC does handle as well.

The file is NOT retail in this case, because it's Volume Licensed under OEM. (FPP_VL_OEM)
