Another company recieved the Windows Server 2022 Essentials DVD (incl. COA label) and an additional CAL label (1 device) P46172-A21 Essentials itself 10 Cores (ROK) P46194-B21 1 Device CAL (about 50$) Because even on the MS site it says "no CALS required", because 25 users / 50 devices are automatically supported. I wonder if this would be just a mixup at some of the resellers ? Or would this be the 1 CAL label, that needs to be attached to the server, next to the COA label ?
I have seen a package from HP with Windows Server 2022 Essentials DVD and without extra CAL P46194-B21 . Could be a gift ;-) The admin has to ensure that only 25 users / 50 devices are in use, not more (Microsoft audit...) It is not possible to buy oder use more CALs for more than 25 users / 50 devices. Then you have to purchase a license for Windows Server Standard. You cant buy "Windows Server 2022 Essentials" for your own (Server-)Hardware. You can only buy a OEM Server with "Windows Server 2022 Essentials" - OEM or ROK together oder later from this manufacture as "Windows Server 2022 Essentials"-ROK. After you install "Essentials", you have installed a normal "Windows Server 2022 Standard" with no technical restrictions. With the command winver "Standard" is shown, not "Essentials".
Thank you for the reply. Today this happened again. HP Server + Essentials COA + extra CAL label. The company also got charged for the seperate CAL label. So I guess some resellers add the CAL label for the "just in case"...or to get rid of them maybe.
