    hello,

can anybody clarify the licensing options.
If i have one windows 2008 r2 server (or 2012) and 30 win7 pcs, in a workgroup environment, and only one user (Administrator) logged on all of those pcs, no terminal (rdp) access needed, do i need CAL licenses?

    thanks

The server is there just because i use a specific software that needs other clients to be connected to the main "server".

With winxp there was a limitation so that only 7 or 8 clients could connect to another winxp machine, so the server OS was used to do more, with windows 7 this limit was increased to 10 or 20 simultaneous connections, so a server OS is still needed.
There is only one user, and 30 devices that connect with the server. So is a 1 CAL (user) enough, or do i need 30 CALs (devices)?

    :)

    thanks
