After running upgrade setup from my 9926 virtual machine, got a black screen after logon. Ctrl+Alt+Del brings up the dialog where I can lock, start task manager, etc. Maybe something is happening underneath the black screen but I can't see it. I can bring up task manager which is also black. If I can ever get to where I can see what I'm doing, I'll install KB3061161 which is supposed to fix it.
I was having the same issue on my laptop with 10074. Forcing it to shout down, then rebooting brought up the login screen. And yes the KB3061161 update fixed it.
Finally got past the black screen. Got the KB installed. Hyper-V Network Adapter won't survive a reboot. I have to launch device manager, delete it, and scan for new hardware every time. Still using the "old" Start Menu. Store app will launch but Settings app crashes. Yeah, it's a broken piece of garbage but that will change eventually. Everything that works seems identical to the corresponding part in Server 2012R2.
YES! That's great. I'm not a big fan of this new XAML startmenu because it's buggy as hell & and it's not customizable at all. Maybe i can use the explorer.exe of Server Build 10074 on Win10 Pro
Not likely. I am pretty sure it is a bit more complex than just replacing one file. The new start menu bugs will be worked out and there will be some more customization, in future builds.
After the horrendous Windows Server 10 Technical Preview I'm not going to waste my time on this.. The first one was a real mess, and we didn't even get any build updates at all.. Considering Windows Server 10 / 2016 is not supposed to release until 2016 and Windows 10 i supposedly releasing during the summer I guess these builds are to be considered early-Alpha at best even though they seem to carry the same build numbers as their Windows 10 siblings.
I was just messing around with the 'Nano' server. It would have been ideal for FreeStyler, Slave and the others, who were trying to build a tiny VM to host a KMS Server. I would if that's were MS got the idea.
