This is not bootable ISO, as the WSS 2008 R2 is installed in this way:

    Code:
Step 1: Install Windows Server 2008 R2 on the reference computer (use Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard as the basis for the Workgroup and Standard editions of Windows Storage Server 2008 R2, and use Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise as the basis for Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Enterprise)
1.(Optional) Install language packs. Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 supports 11 languages.
2.Install the Windows Server 2008 R2 operating system updates that are provided in the Windows Server 2008 R2 OPK.
3.Install the storage server-specific features that are provided in the Windows Server 2008 R2 Application Pack.
4.Add and configure the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) website. This enables access to storage appliances over a network.
5.(Optional) Add performance-specific registry keys. These keys increase the performance of the storage appliance when it is used as a file server.
6.(Optional) Set Windows PowerShellâ„¢ execution policy. This policy must be enabled if you customize the end user setup experience.
7.Enable Windows Remote Management. This policy must be enabled if your storage appliance will be part of a failover cluster.
8.(Optional) Install non-Microsoft applications. Complete this task only if your end users need to use custom applications to set up or manage the storage appliance.
9.(Optional) Add your OEM software license terms in all the supported languages. If you need end users to accept your software license terms during the appliance setup, you need to add the agreement to your installation.

So, WSS 2008 R2 is more like a feature pack for WS2008 R2, right? Then I suppose that you can turn a activated win2008R2 into WSS2008R2 just by installing those files, right?

Just released on MSDN/Technet, but with DIFFERENT hash (most likely because it is a single iso):

I actually just tried to install it on a Server 2008 R2, after installing the "branding" MSU it changes it self into WSS2008

    And iscsi target runs fine

sweet I had read they were going with a more feature-based install for this. I didn't even know this was in the works, I had looked when I set up my SAN on a new board but didn't even know about this. SIS is back!!

    Note to people:

If you enable SIS, and decide not to keep SS2008R2 installed you must turn off SIS before formatting/uninstall SS. Otherwise anything you put on the volume after enabling it won't be available because it is just an index pointer.

Can somebody please point me in the direction of this download? I've tried everywhere, including TechNet and Google.

Any help will be greatly appriciated :)
