Ok, I'm trying to set up windows to go on my external harddrive, and I've noticed two things. The install.wim has been renamed. it is now install.esd When I use the imagex instructions I get an error (I don't remember it atm, I'll edit the post when I do. and when I search windows to go I get a simple screen. You can run the following Code: pwlauncher.dll,ShowPortableWorkspaceLauncherConfigurationUX
Fingured out that I might need to get Microsoft Deployment Toolkit 2012 RC1 from Microsoft Connect. Looking more into it.
Possible Simple Solution I don't know, I've never used vLite. I can run the following and it gives me this. Code: imagex.exe /info C:\WindowsESD\sources\install.esd Code: ImageX Tool for Windows Copyright (C) Microsoft Corp. All rights reserved. Version: 6.2.8250.0 Error opening file [D:\WindowsESD\sources\install.esd]. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format. So, I renamed it to .wim and got the same thing. Still stumped. So, I just realized that the esd file extension stands for Electronic Software Delivery by simply googling it. I think its that way, because I downloaded the setup program instead of grabbing the iso. Can someone else validate that before I have to download the entire thing again? (Might be a requirement to download the iso to "deploy" the os to a usb drive.)
