Does someone knows if exist a possibly free tool for scan the PC hardware download drivers directly from Windows Update Servers and bulk install them? But a prerogative is that this tool doesn't have to use the Windows Update Service. I don't care if the driver is WHQL certified if it doesn't come from Windows Update Server.
I need to have more control to driver management, so during their installation, I have to disable the Windows Update service, so it doesn't interfere. But I need they are the exactly version I can found in the Microsoft Servers, so Windows Update doesn't replace them. Does Driver Easy download them directly from MS servers? The ideal should be a tool that works like Windows Update Mini Tool, but without using Windows Update service.
That's counter-intuitive if you're after ms catalog drivers after-all. I would suggest using windows_update_toggle instead. Two birds with one stone, stop automatic updates, and pick and choose drivers from ms catalog.
No, Driver Easy has its own server, it does not rely on 3rd party. Then again, if you buy a licence, you can use it for updating altogether.
I watched the video on your thread and seems interesting; I have some questions about this project: - What happens if a device isn't installed and the Automatic update is blocked? The driver will not be installed? - What's the way for uninstall the script? - What doing the options "Build upgrades", "SpeechRuntime", "SearchUI" and "WUT.bat"?
1. driver won't be installed, you can do it manually from the context menu 2. & 3. "Configure WUT" is the script menu where you can disable it while still keeping the menu in the context menu, or renew (update script from pastebin) or completely remove it. Build upgrades = feature updates from version to version example 1903 to 1909 or 2004 SpeechRuntime is blocking a process that was used by ms to do stuff like random environmental recordings, you won't find it mentioned elsewhere, as it was very sneaky region-based (for example, more pesky in Iran). Later windows versions seem to no longer do that, but I view it as a privacy concern still. SearchUI is windows search, if blocked search from the start menu won't work properly, meant for those using replacements such as open-shell providing built-in search. You don't really need to touch all those stuff, the way is setup allows you to still install updates from the menu without toggling anything, it's done automatically. To go back to using default windows update, just Windows Update Toggle - Configure WUT - Disable. Updates you've hidden via the menu will no longer be offered by default windows update.
Snappy driver Origin is a good tool. it might not be what you're looking for, but it does update all drivers
It works perfectly! Maybe a windowed UI would be more comfortable, but it's already great. Many thanks!
Hi Guys, I right click desktop, configure WUT 10.4, select remove and it does not remove...how can this be removed to restore windows updates to normal again?
install it again, then remove it. Can also select troubleshoot from the menu before removing. I will look more into it..
Thanks for looking at this. Reinstalled - same thing when trying to remove. Also just as a FYI as for why removal - it wouldn't actually install the patches I wanted..had 2....won't install.. Cheers!
