Not sure if that's the same error I was getting

But, stopping the Windows Update service, going to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download and deleting all the files and folders in there, then rebooting fixed the error I was getting.

Don't worry about the deleting those files and folders, in Downloads their only cached versions of whats already been installed. ;)

I tried googling for about an hour, and trying various fixes and s**t, but none of them worked.

Well, I fixed it by completely removing MS Office from my computer. However, now I can't re-install Office. :(

You have to completely remove remnants of MS Office from your system and the registry needs to be cleared of former Office's strings before you can re-install it.

I think I'll just wait until the new release, and clean install that once it's released. Hopefully soon.

remember to do a low level format of your HD just in case u may have bad sectors....that also can produce writing errors.
