    So I changed my GPU installed drivers and everythings fine.

    Windows Update however seems to keep trying to install the drivers for the previous card.

    Had a 6970 now an Nvidia 970. Wouldn't normally mind windows doing its thing but it tries to install AMD Catalyst and fails all the time.

    Is there a way to clear this or stop it trying to download/install this everyday?

    Error I get is this;

    Code:
    There were problems installing some updates, but we'll try again later.
    If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help:

    • Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. driver update for AMD Radeon HD 6900 Series - Error 0x80070103
    I'm on build 10074 x64.

    Any help would be fantastic!

    Thank you.

    FIXED

    The solution by Mr Magic @ post #4 did it.

    Uninstall your old GPU using Display Driver Uninstaller before installing the new one.

    Howtogeek article did not work for me in Windows 10 10074. It says it applies to Windows 7, Vista, and XP.

    Device Manager > View menu > Show hidden devices then look for the devices that are no longer present and uninstall them. Then find a way to make Windows Update search for updates again.

    This was the first thing that was done. Even used a driver cleaner after the uninstallers.

    No joy with this, no reference to my old gpu.

    Trying this now.

    Thanks for the help though guys, will let you know if this works.

    To stop updates in win 10 TP entirely do this:

    regedit

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\wuauserv]
    "Start"=dword:00000004

    Reboot.

    To undo set the dword back to 3

    If you don't want to use Regedit, try this. Open Control Panel click on Devices and Printers Right click on Hard Drive click on Device Installation Settings A window will open There you can turn off Windows Update from looking for Drivers

    THe AMD driver will still update with this setting..been there done it. Other drivers do not though. Guessing it is since it is 'software" for the amd driver using AMD install manager and CCC to install. Also I have had at least 2 cases where win 10 tp undid this change. The only permanent way at the moment is the regedit.

    It works for everything else like it should but the damn screwy win 10 TP amd gpu drivers. So I had to find a real solutions for the amd issue. As the win 10 tp amd drivers make my pc blackscreen right after the log in screen before windows fully loads.

    Wasnt trying to stop updates, I <3 updates! lol Just didn't want Windows Update to keep trying to download software/drivers for something that doesn't exist anymore.

    The solution suggested by Mr Magic @ post #4 worked perfectly. Now Windows Updates only Updates what I have.
