Windows XP is an high risk old OS with 10+ years of first release. Windows 8 is better and better than XP, we will wait for the Final Release.
I recently reverted from 7 to XP on one of the machines and was surprised to (re)discover how well it runs. Everything that worked with 7 worked in XP, also there were no permissions issues (go ahead and delete what you want ). It uses 250 mb ram (like win8 ). Best of all, it has a regular desktop and a Start button. Edit: win8 uses much more than 250 mb..
I use Xp and although i have WIn 7 Retail DVD , i still prefer XP and i am happy to wait and see, what MS will comeup with their next OS.
Honestly, I value speed and simplicity much more than looks. That's all what Metro interface has to offer: looks. Microsoft should have limited Metro to tablets and touchscreen devices, and give you the option to turn it off in desktops. Windows XP >> Win7 >> Win8. That's how I see it.
Windows XP is working good, but it is really old-looking and does not support many new programs and features.
In our company we use XP till near 10 years, it always works fine but now we are changing to Win 7 (late)
windows 7 and windows 8 is not support 'direct hardware access'.. kernel streaming and even then only emulation .. too much emulation would have an impact on system performance.. simple example, can you enjoy EAX feature without having to install ALChemy or 3DSoundBeta?? XP is better .. VIVA LA WINDOWS XP
Sometimes, When Your AMD Graphic Card is not responding, Only Windows XP Can return it into normal state, Windows 7? Get Your Blue Screen of Death or Not Responding Screen VPU Recover is available only on systems running Windows XP
I would choose Windows 8 because I have already tried the beta which released this year . I research everything that was in beta, and I allowed it to extremely satisfied. Really I am looking forward to be released full version. Windows XP does not much space on the hardware but the graphics are already worse.
But I find xp still more efficient and simple as compared to win 7, its also much more compatible than any of the new os versions.
Sad to see people think Windows XP is better than 7/8..... People have no idea what they are talking about.
xp is good for old games that have weird problems with newer windows hardware sound is still messed up even with wrappers in newer windows I tried running some old games in vmware and they play but still crap
