I am using fully updated windows xp sp3 PC having 1gb ram with eset nod32 antivirus.I use internet a lot for browsing, torrents and softwares. I have read that xp firewall is not good as it does not check outgoing connections. Is windows Xp firewall good enough or should I use some third party firewall for good security.

I don't know if you are using torrent then obviously you are sharing ports. I used to use zonealarm a while back now as far as I am concerned windows firewall will suffice for most users.
