Well here is my problem, few days ago i purchased HP-presario CQ42-258vx, i tried to install windows XP and the BSOD showing, after some research i need to Install SATA Driver, but Since i dont own any Floppy Disk drive usb,

i found another alternative by contacting Hp active chat technical support but yet still Failed :(

i get my SATA driver from here h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=3355650&prodNameId=3355661&swEnvOID=1093&swLang=8&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=ob-54270-1

but strangely It's not working, i still get BSOD, and tried to use Nlite with The SATA driver from the technical support guy gave me.But For whatever i Do, i always get BSOD ;( please help

is this because wrong SATA DRIVER??

Maybe, how do we know what chipset the laptop uses?
Visit support page for the model & get the correct driver

Do you have a setting in Bios to make it IDE?

If you have Win7 already installed then just check Hardware ID in Device Manager

Nothing strange..as XP by default does not come with sata support and for including sata support you must integrate 'Mass storage' driverpacks from'drivepacks.net' into your windows xp iso and then you can continue installing XP...

I think its much better to integrate all the mass storage driverpack with driverpack base into xp iso...then you can use this cd on any pc.But you must integrate mass storage drivers in textmode...That way you don't have to worry about hardware id's etc..
