Those keys will not pre-activate anything.

The file "pid.inf" is used as part of a new feature of Service Pack 3: the ability to install Windows XP without inserting a product key.
Those keys are simply generic ones, that are used by default, if you don't insert any key during setup.

Now, about your problem... You're saying that you are using an original XP Home RTM disc.
When you say RTM, do you mean the very first edition, without any service packs integrated?
If so, then that might be the problem.

When a product key is decoded into a product ID, the key range is compared against the key ranges in "dpcdll.dll" (this file is updated with each Service Pack).
If the key range is not found, the product key will be invalid.

So, your "dpcdll.dll" file is probably too old and doesn't support the new key ranges.

I'm curious to see if this is the actual case. Could you please upload the file dpcdll.dll from your XP Home CD?
You will find it in the "i386" folder with the name "DPCDLL.DL_".

    Thanks!
I forgot to ask... What is the volume label of your original XP Home disc?
