it's not voodoo to extract things from a VHD especially since windows 7 can mount them in disk management. Even then Windows XP mode is just a OEM copy of Windows XP installed on a VHD. Windows Virtual PC is what requires virtualization technologies.

What is the advantage of using this version of XP Mode instead of original one by microsoft?

This is for when you don't have VT Support in your pc

    runs instead in VirtualBox

just open WindowsXPMode_en-us.exe (492mb) with winrar & extract xpm file on folder sources.

rename extracted file xpm as xpm.cab & open in winrar to extract file VirtualXPVHD & rename to VirtualXPVHD.vhd (1'2gb)

    just this;)

the problem is with this method you don't have oem bios support to activate the windows xp oem microsoft (oembios.xxx stuff) version inside this vhd, i don't know yet if you can activate this with a vlk(gold) key,,,,,

xpmode has this bios oem microsoft support & key
