Windows XP with MSE

    About a month ago Microsoft would not let me install MSE. Said the OS was no longer supported. Today I clicked on updates and in the lower list was Microsoft Security Essentials Free. I selected it and MSE was installed and updated without a problem. I wonder why?

    You downloaded the version meant for Windows 7 previously.

    Confirming 4.4.304 is the last working MSE on XP, but it's a really ball to the foot, slowing everything and not only during updating.
