back when the 8.1 preview came out, I upgraded from 8 pro. It was a mess, half my apps would no longer run. Had to wipe it for a clean install. MS can't do patches well still.
i Tried Both clean install and Upgrade both same Problem its like Crazy Hickups from the system. I started Guildwars2 firewall came up asked 10 min later after i clicked allow still standing all drivers i found for 8.1 was installed
I think you that a bit wrong! Microsoft's really try's to satisfy the customers in first lane. But MS didn't could overcome some limitation which were implemented by the developers of the 3. party applications. And in case of Windows 8.1 we should also take in account that the development of 8.1 was was really done in just a third of the time MS was using in the past. That's something what were developer of the ad on application need to get to work for them first. Don't think that I'm a very close friend of MS, I didn't. I just try to be as objective as possible. There's many things going on in the application development business, normal users will never come involved with and therefore didn't know. Just an simple example about an huge hardware manufacturer a few year back: We were need to have some special scanner to work in Windows 7 or even just in XP but the driver were working with Win 200 as latest OS. so we contacted the manufacturer and asked for an modified Driver to let work that Scanner wit XP or W7. The answer was that they didn't would produce new drivers because that scanner were out dated and they had stopped the further development of such scanners. We asked them to release the Source Code to us so we could modify the driver for to use. The answer were: they weren't interested that those old scanner's should used further on and that the demand of customers and user of those scanners were nor for any interest for that company. So they would not release the source code and also warned that in case, we would decompile the original driver and would modify for to use with the scanner with newer OS's, they would consider to start legal actions against our company! If you think that such behaviour is not often show, you would be surprised!! And what applies for Hardware manufacturer for the development of driver's is the same in Application development business!
what motherboard do you have? Your BIOS looks old, maybe an update is helpful BIOS: BIOS Date: 06/16/09 Ver: 08.00.14
Asus M3A but i already got the latest bios i have thought what it could be and was thinking about my Creative Tactical headset drivers but no new one from creative there yet :S
Uninstall completely! After that, set the Setup files to Compatibility Mode Windows 7 Using a right click on the setup.exe file. Install again and check now it's working or not!
Did an upgrade from W8 to 8.1 in Germany language (thanks WZOR and ms-7) out of curiosity just to see how it works. Flawlessly at all, no issues, all files kept, all settings and programs work like a charm. This was the first upgrade ever which convinced me totally. It feels like a setup from scratch. Office 2013 was imported and just activated by confirming the button. Whole story was finished after 20 minutes and now all Metro tiles appear in German language
even tryed a cleaninstall again with the new GA isos from windows 8.1 still the same issues anyone got an idea? its like after the first reboot after graphics driver and all other drivers installed it takes up to 10 min to even let me to the dektop and than when i click on any app it takes again like 5 mins to even open it but still not useable
i hope it will be even better than the trouble i got with win 8.1 cause server 2012 r2 runs fine on the same Computer
