    Hi folks...I have a Laptop that needs repairs, but can you believe it. I dunno if its suppose to be like this, but the "lock Taskbar" feature is greyed out, and so are many more features. If this is NOT suppose to be like this ( as i have only experience in bigger platforms ), then it's hard to believe. If anyone here has got the Winxp STARTER (incl SP3) edition, do you know where i could download it? I would prefer MediaFire if possible as it has a multiple thread download without paying for it...I'm dispirit :(
    ...tia

    PS: Even if i can get a Windows XP AIO ( with "Starter-Edition" embedded ) i will be grateful..."preferably an original...and not a cracked version...

    SAHARA-Brand
    Motherboard - ATI BONEFISH
    Bios = PHOENIX ( 06/06/07)
    Cpu = M440

    PS: it looked as if someone tried to install the HOME version on top of the Starter-Edition...thereby stuffing everything up :(

    Dont worry folks...i have just confirmed...my installation at the end was correct and i dont need Starter anymore...There is a LOT of functions that doesnt work, but apparently...THATS HOW IT IS!!! s**test XP EVER!!!...tried to fix it for about 12 hours...just to find out my repair-work WAS 100%....lmao!
    It came in as it was totally infected...After disinfection, the "grey"-areas worried me as i know viruses can stuff up your registry by disabling certain functions...never knew Starter was SO bad :mad:

    Depends on what you need it for really...

    But any Puppy Linux would be WAY better on this machine

    I totally agree Sebus...Why why in the hell sell people THIS type of crap? Can't believe it. $MS should have at least COMPLETELY deleted the settings that can't be used...Not just leave them there for folks to click on, just to display a "restriction"-error...

    This whole $MS thing is a money-making-racket...SP2 For Win7 is not even out, but they are already preparing Win8...instead, first FIX all the crap of Win7...THEN goto the next step...ie Win8

    at the end i just installed my WinXP-PRo and called it a day, otherwise it would take me YEARS to try and fix a "starter-edition".

    Just a question folks...I had a WinXP-Pro CD that i've been using for YEARS...all i did was slipstreaming the SP's. It is a OEM VL version, and it works on ALL Lappy's WITHOUT any loader and crap...also no need to do SLIC's etc...Could it be that in THOSE days, when PRO came out...it didn't have the feature to check for Vendor's etc?

    It can't do updates, but for that i just use "AntiWAT"...but other than that....NO probs :biggrin5:

    XP never used slics. There is no loader for XP either..

    The antiwat is an activation crack..

    Your VLK will install and "activate" but will never be genuine, hence the need for the crack to update..

    OEM is the only way to guarantee to stay genuine.

    Some VLK will always be genuine no matter what (like the one from German Army), XP loader for virtual machines (Vmware, Parallels) exists

    But sure, OEM SLP is the only 100% way
