are you sure that a 2 year old hp laptop would have unique drivers that win 10 cant provide? im only asking because i want as little to do with the drivers HP provided because maybe im being paranoid but i can imagine them contributing to the slowness with some HP bloat factor. i will back them up as you say. but am i best using that link in my op?
ok ive copied the drivers and now want to proceed. im just a bit worried about activation it says windows is activated with a digital license linked to your microsoft account and its my grandaughter who is the admin and has her email address on her icon/logo but im not sure if it was originally activated and linked to my daughter. any pointers please? i told you i was an idiot.
aljaxon69: What is the exact serial number(S/N) and product number(P/N) on that HP laptop? Once its correct identity is determined, its HP support site can be located. A clean install of Windows 10 is pretty good about providing drivers for a computer's devices. But it's good to know in advance the identity of the devices and to have the needed drivers available.
Is there a DISM command to Import / Install those downloaded drivers to a PC / Laptop once a fresh OS install is performed?
If it's a laptop with pre-installed Win 8/10, it will be activated by the MSDM, which will change into a HWID for the windows SKU the MSDM is meant for, Home in most consumer laptops/oem systems.
wow thanks for the replies ill try to address each one here sn CND7260WR3 prod id 2GQ96EA#ABU but like i said id like to stay clear of anything hp cosd im sure their "stuff" is whats slowing it down. Enthousiast your link gives instructions on how to do a reinstall of win 10 and that sounds likewhat i want to do maybe ive worded it wrong and thats what i want to do? maybe to experts there is a massive difference to fresh install and re install. i need help here i want to wipe the laptop and end up having win 10 on it only no hp slowing down bloat ware etc. and ehthousiast your last post sounds like the way to go? but sorry even create an efi.cfg is beyond me unless i google it or it is explained to me. is it paste into notepad and save as .cfg file? think ive done it. when i open the .cfg file it looks like this [Channel] _Default [VL] 0 is that ok? cheers for help so far
I prefer using a batch to create partitions in Windows setup, because of a strange issue , the System Reserved partition on MBR configuration is 50MB only by default. . I know MBR is less and less used as new laptops and desktops are UEFI. But why am I talking about this ? If you let this partition to 50MB and try to make a Backup and Restore (Windows 7) and create a system image on Windows 10. This will lead to an error code because of the size of System Reserved partition. Of course people use Macrium or other softs to do this but as I experienced this issue some months ago I wanted to share it. The backup and restore fonctionnality and creation of partitions should be revised by M$ teams as it is not working correctly. We have technical experience here but imagine people without any knowledges on the subject. As M$ says in setup " Let us all ..." or something like that. I will say No I do it myself.
Enthousiast i see you used ultraiso premium to insert the .cfg into the iso is there free software that can do this? and every time ive installed windows on a pc without ssd ive created a partition on the drive for windows under the impression its neater better etc. the hd on the laptop is 1tb but not ssd. you have helped me and talked me through stuff before on here thanks.
@aljaxon69 , you will probably not be booting form cd/dvd but using bootable usb thumbdrive once you have made that just copy the ei.cfg to sources folder on the usb thumbdrive.
ive actually installed windows about 5 times off a usb i was just looking at enthousiasts video how to put ef.cgi into the sources folder.
right so theres nothing in my code text i uploaded to stop me from going ahead. copy and past the ef.cgi?
