We have a wireless router and have turned off the wireless via the router webpage

Why does the wireless light still blink?

I ask cause my roommate has concerns that she's being hacked...lol...

I just need good answer to tell her that wireless is off or things are safe

Can you tell me a little about what might be going on here?

    Thank you

    Why its doing that? IDK.

But what you can do is try to connect to it while the router wireless is off via wireless and if you cannot, its off. You could also try any one of the numerous wifi sniffers (discovery tools) to see if it just isn't broadcasting the ssid and is still "on."

Thanks for your help. Yes can someone guide me through the steps (Which tool to use) to using the wifi sniffer to show her it is not broadcasting

You just need to see what port or status light is flashing, if the wireless is off then in almost all routers I know of the corresponding light turns off. If the wireless light is still on then it's not turned off. Especially if it's flashing, that means it's either just on or passing data. Some routers, even though you turn off settings, if you don't apply it and in some cases this requires doing it in two places, then on reboot the settings will be back to square one.

also some routers have a _GUEST wireless not just 1 SSID. that could be on.

or it may be possible you are seeing a data light that will always blink when the router is connected to a modem that is connected to a service.

I have also seen the wifi light next to the data light, the data light flashing and showing thru the wifi lights port.

Turn the wifi ON and give it the SSID name "THE WiFI is OFF"
